Bespoke Birdseye Maple & Walnut Fitted Storage

These bespoke fitted storage cabinets were designed and made as a matching pair for a beautiful country estate in Henfield, West Sussex. They combine prepared Birdseye Maple veneer panels, Hardrock Maple frames and doors, and solid American Black Walnut detailing. Designed primarily as dedicated shoe storage, each cabinet incorporates solid American Black Walnut drawers with brass shoe support rods, alongside open shelving for books, accessories and display.

The cabinets feature curved end sections, inset doors, shaped shelving and traditional moulding details, with contrasting American Black Walnut used for the drawers, mouldings and decorative detailing. The natural figure of the Birdseye Maple creates a distinctive surface across the doors and panels, while the high-gloss lacquer finish enhances the depth, figure and chatoyance of the timber, creating a changing lustre as the light moves across the surface.

Designed and made specifically for the room, the pair of cabinets combine bespoke fitted furniture, built-in storage and traditional cabinetmaking with highly figured timber, contrasting hardwoods and refined detailing. Together, they provide substantial practical storage while sitting naturally within the character of the country house.
